Praia da Velha is a spectacular spot for windsurfing, being very good for initiation, improvement and for those who are enthusiastic about speed, Slalon and Freestyle as the water surface is almost smooth and great for accelerating to the maximum and also to learn.
Access to the point is on the right side of the Transtejo park at Gare do Seixal in front of the Benfica Training Center in Seixal.
This spot has the particularity of operating throughout the day, if there is wind, with the low tide period being the time when the water surface becomes smoother and where it is possible to reach the highest speeds, however to reach the water you need to walk a little.
It is a spot that works all year round and with all wind directions, however winds from NW (On-shore) to SW (Side-offshore) are the quadrants that guarantee greater consistency.
The place itself has a superb landscape with the cities of Lisbon, Setubal and Seixal in the background and the fact that it is surrounded by banks on all sides provides a very smooth water texture, even in very strong wind conditions, a factor that is quite suitable for beginners.
If the wind blows in the northern quadrants, the edges can be quite long, with exceptional conditions for Slalom and Foil windsurfing.
In this spot, as the bottom is mixed with sand and shells, it is advisable to wear protective footwear, especially at the beginning and end of low tide.
